Letter: Town Hall meeting is a good start

To the Editor:

I had the opportunity to attend the town hall meeting Feb. 26. I was incredibly impressed to see so many respected professionals in the community offer their time to answer community concerns about drugs, violence and gangs in Red Wing.

Chief Tim Sletten did a wonderful job of pulling it all together, and I loved his comment “This is a beginning.”

I don’t know what “next step” Red Wing as a community will take, but I realized that as an individual, I can participate. I can become involved, so my next e-mail will be to Chief Sletten requesting to volunteer for the Chemical Health Initiative. I really like the kids in Red Wing, and I respect the professionals who work so hard to make Red Wing a safe and positive place to live. I — a Bay City resident whose town is Red Wing — want to be part of that effort.
