Ellsworth shutout at MBC tennis meet

Ellsworth High School's girls tennis team was unable to score a point at the Middle Border Conference tennis meet Tuesday.

DURAND - Ellsworth High School's girls tennis team was unable to score a point at the Middle Border Conference tennis meet Tuesday.

All of the Panthers players were eliminated in the first round in straight sets, all having to face top-seeded opponents at the Wayne Field tennis courts.

The EHS player who won the most games was senior Stacie Peterson. She won six games but lost to Osceola's Tiffany Goodman 3-6, 3-6 at No. 2 singles.

In fact there wasn't much scoring for most MBC teams outside of New Richmond and Baldwin-Woodville. NR edged B-W 34-33 points in the team standings even though the Blackhawks had more champions.

The Panthers hope to do better at the WIAA Division 2 Subsectional Meet next Monday at Osceola.
