Wanted: Citizens for sheriff's academy
The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office will again offer the Sheriff’s Citizens Academy starting next month.
The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office will again offer the Sheriff’s Citizens Academy starting next month.
The academy consists of eight classes held once a week for three hours. Instruction is comprehensive, covering a different area of the sheriff’s office each week.
Classes will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays March 20 through May 8. The academy is free. Sessions will be held in Goodhue and Red Wing.
The academy is open to any resident of Goodhue County 21 or older.
The academy will include detailed information on such topics as the uniformed patrol division, special operations, criminal investigations, E911 operations, jail operations, and other areas of law enforcvement. There will be tours of the jail, E911 center and sheriff’s office. There will also be opportunities to do ride along with a patrol deputy and a field trip to a gun range.
