READS LANDING — The Wabasha County Historical Society will present a hometown version of “Antiques Roadshow” from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Reads Landing School Museum. The show-and-tell event is free and open to the public but a fee will be charged for appraisals.
People are invited to bring historic items from home, show them to the audience and share their histories. Since this is Minnesota’s sesquicentennial year, people are encouraged to bring items specific to Minnesota or Wabasha County history.
Jim Marrinen, a member of the Appraisers Association of America, will be present. For a fee of $5, he will appraise any historic item — except dolls and jewelry. Refreshments will be served. Parts of the museum will be open for viewing, and there will be information on upcoming plans for changes and restoration of the facilities.
