School liaison funding increased

Red Wing School Board members on Monday agreed to double the amount of money the board reimburses the city for two liaison officers.

Red Wing School Board members on Monday agreed to double the amount of money the board reimburses the city for two liaison officers.

Though Red Wing police Chief Tim Sletten sought $60,000 from the district for his officers, district officials said they couldn’t afford it all.

“I know it is not as much as the city would like,” Supt. Stan Slessor said, but “I simply cannot bring that type of dollar to the board.”

Board members approved $30,000 but tabled a contract between the city and the district for further review.
