Power restored to downtown area

Approximately 2,900 Xcel Energy customers in Red Wing lost power at 12:25 p.m. today when an insulator at a substation failed, affecting three major distribution lines.

Crews restored power to 422 customers at 1:05 p.m., to 435 customers at 1:35 p.m. and to all of the remaining affected customers at 1:48 p.m. A crew still is working to make permanent repairs.
