Letter: Learn about alternative preschool program

On Tuesday, the Red Wing School Board will host a special presentation on the Montessori approach to early childhood education. The speakers will be Molly O’Shaughnessy, director of the Montessori Training Center in St. Paul, and Dr. Steven Hughes, a neuropsychologist, who has conducted considerable research on the Montessori method.

The School Board is studying the possibility of adding a Montessori pre-school as an alternative program for families beginning in the 2008-09 school year.

The presentation will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Little Theater at the high school. The public is encouraged to attend this and all board meetings, which are generally held on the first and third Mondays of the month.

Beginning in February, School Board meetings will be held in the City Council Chambers.
