Thursday night, American Idol moved to Las Vegas where 70 finalists from the Hollywood group and solos competitions performed at the Aria Resort on the Viva Elvis stage.
Tonight Reed Grimm was teamed up with Haley Johnson, 22, Beaverton, Ore., Eben Franckewitz, 15, Loveland Ohio, Elise Testone, 28, Charleston, S.C. for the group competitions in Las Vegas.
They made it through the first cut after a stellar performance which balanced all of their individual talents. Costumed in black and white with a touch of red they worked the entire stage with choreography that kept the judges watching every move.
All of the groups, each made up of three or four contestants, were given songs from the 50’s which they had to rehearse and perform in less than 24 hours.
Grimm and the other three members his group in Las Vegas made it through the final cut, putting Grimm in the top 40 contestants. This is the round last year where Grimm’s cousin-in-law and Hudson High School graduate Caleb Hawley was cut from American Idol competition.
The 40 contestants who moved on will be narrowed down to 24 next week when they return to Hollywood.
Public voting begins after the episode that airs Feb. 28.
