Durand hammers Ellsworth girls 45-28

Durand outscored Ellsworth 28-12 in the second half of their Middle Border Conference game Tuesday evening in Ellsworth. It led to a 45-28 win and EHS's sixth straight loss.
Durand led 17-16 at halftime but built up their second half lead steadily. They held Ellsworth without a point until the 2:43 mark of the third quarter and without a field goal until the third quarter buzzer.
EHS had two players in double figures but they did 98 percent of the scoring for the Panthers, Lydia Kuhl with 14 points and Halle Hatch with 11 points. Durand, 3-3 overall, center Lexara Harmon led all scorers with 15 points and three other of their players scored at least seven points.
Ellsworth drops to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the MBC. They are off for the Holiday break until Jan. 3 when they host Elmwood in a non-conference game.
