Audiences of all ages got to enjoy a great take on a favorite at the Sheldon Theatre when the Missoula Children's Theatre and more than 30 youth across Goodhue County presented "Treasure Island."
The Missoula Children's Theatre tour team arrived at the beginning of the week with a set, costumes, props and makeup — everything it takes to put on a play — except the cast. After a one-day delay due to snow, auditions and casting of more than 30 Goodhue County 4-Hers in grades K-12 took place Jan. 23. Rehearsals were held throughout the week and two public performances were presented Saturday, Jan. 27, at the Sheldon Theatre.
The Missoula Children's Theatre residency was presented locally by Goodhue County 4-H with support from the Sheldon Theatre and University of Minnesota Extension.
Many thanks go out to parents and volunteers for chaperoning at each evening's rehearsal and to Bill Foot of Red Wing for accompanying the show on the piano. We would also like to give a huge thank you to the Sheldon Theatre staff and volunteers for giving 4-Hers the opportunity to perform on the Sheldon Theatre stage for the past 24 years.
