Raise your voices, raise money for Ostroushka
ZUMBROTA — Ann Reed and Dan Chouinard have hosted a monthly community sing-along in St. Anthony Park for five years and counting. As a fundraising event for their friend Peter Ostroushka, they are bringing it to Zumbrota.
Join the fun at 8 p.m. Saturday, July 21, when Reed and Chouinard will choose a bunch of familiar songs and audience requests, then project lyrics on a big screen so a noisy time is had by all. Come take part in what people used to do often and raise funds to help stroke survivor Ostroushko.
A songwriter, singer, guitarist and author, Reed has been performing for more than 40 years telling, sharing and singing stories from the human experience. Of course, some of her songs and stories might end up closer to your funny bone — a little irreverence never hurt anyone, she says. He concerts are a blend of new songs from her most recent CD, "Winter Springs, Summer Falls," released November 2017, and old favorites from her catalog of nearly 300 songs.
Chouinard is a honky-tonk pianist, street accordionist, concert soloist and accompanist — a polyglot both musical and linguistic. He is frequently commissioned to create and host programs that blend history, memoir and music for Minnesota Public Radio, the Minnesota Historical Society, Twin Cities Public Television and theaters throughout the region. And he loves a good sing-along.
Tickets are $20 in advance and $23 at the door, available through Crossings. To reserve tickets, visit www.crossingsatcarnegie.com, call 507-732- 7616 or stop in to Crossings at 320 East Ave., Zumbrota.
