Area schools cancel classes for Jan. 22

Spotlight event: Laura Ingalls Wilder Days

Nicole Elzenga of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Walnut Grove will join in the celebration at this year's Laura Ingalls Wilder Day in Pepin. The event is Saturday Sept. 14 and Sunday Sept. 15.

Laura Ingalls Wilder Days will be Saturday Sept. 14 and Sunday Sept. 15 in her hometown of Pepin. Wilder wrote the famous children's book series "Little House."

Nicole Elzenga from the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum of Walnut Grove, Minn., will entertain visitors at the Ingalls Log Cabin by reading "Trail to Pepin" and "Little House in the Big Woods." Quilt blocks will highlight the storytelling.

Downtown Pepin features an old-time fiddle contest, Pepin Laura contest, craft booths and food.

Sunday's activities include a grand parade.
