Winston plans Crossings concerts

George Winston, who will perform Monday and Tuesday, works with a local food bank in every tour market to hold a canned food drive.

Solo pianist George Winston, best known for his recordings of seasonal music, will perform two concerts at Crossings at Carnegie in Zumbrota. Shows are scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Winston's latest CD is "Gulf Coast Blues and Impressions - A Hurricane Relief Benefit."

In concert he will perform songs from that CD, as well as selections from his seasonal favorites, "Autumn," "December," "Winter into Spring" and "Summer." Listeners also may hear music from his other albums.

Petit Music of Rochester is donating a grand piano for the two evenings Winston will perform on Crossings' small, intimate stage.

Winston has donated 100 percent of his artist royalties for "Gulf Coast Blues" to various hurricane relief organizations. Over $50,000 has been raised to date.

He donates a portion of his merchandise sales to local organizations and also works with a local food bank in every tour market to hold a canned food drive at the show.

The Zumbrota Food Shelf will be the coordinating agency here. Members of the audience are encouraged to bring nonperishable food donations to the performance.

Crossings is at 320 East Ave. Seating is limited; call (507) 732-7616 to see if any seats are still available. Tickets are $35 in advance and $37 at the door. For more information go online to www.crossingsatcarnegie. com.
