Local favorite Johnson to return to Crossings stage
Local favorite Michael Johnson will return to the Crossings at Carnegie stage at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19.
"He has performed and lived more music and recorded more hits than you would imagine, and he's been inducted into the Minnesota Rock and Country Hall of Fame," a Crossings press release pointed out.
His smooth, balladeer voice identifies Johnson as the man who sings "Bluer Than Blue," "Give Me Wings," "That's That," and other landmark songs.
When asked what he wants people to know about his music, Johnson said, "Tell them that I love it."
He started playing at age 13 and never quit. Singing, playing, writing and recording are the only things he's ever done.
Between his sets, Johnson will be joined by Twin Cities chanteuse Maud Hixson. She was presented as Best New Voice at the Twin Cities Winter JazzFest in 2003.
A native of St. Louis Park, Minn., she has worked as a bandleader and performed with a variety of groups including the Wolverines, French 75, the Twin Cities Seven, the JazzMN Big Band, the Mouldy Figs and the Twin Cities Hot Club.
Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door. Visit Crossings at Carnegie at 320 East Ave. in Zumbrota or call (507) 732-7616.
