Zumbrota man sentenced on domestic assault charge
Scott Peder Olson Jr. was convicted Monday of felony domestic assault and sentenced in Goodhue County District Court Monday to 26 months in prison.
Olson, 27, Zumbrota, who was charged with first- and second-degree burglary, two counts of domestic assault and one count of fourth-degree damage to property in May, originally pleaded not guilty to all charges, but ultimately amended his plea to guilty on one domestic assault charge.
All other charges were dismissed.
Olson was arrested in early May after the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office received a call informing authorities Olson was trying to gain entrance to a home in Dennison.
One of the residents told the sheriff's office they received text messages saying Olson was coming to the house and, after pounding on the front door, he kicked in a door to the garage and attempted to kick in a door to the home. She told police she “feared for her life.”
Olson was convicted in October 2011 of felony violation of a no-contact order and gross misdemeanor domestic assault in Goodhue County. He was also convicted on a felony terroristic threat charge in Le Sueur County in December 2008.
For the 2014 case, Olson received credit for 94 days served and was sent to Minnesota Correctional Facility–St. Cloud to serve the remainder of his time.
