Zumbrota man pleads guilty to assault charge
Evan Todd Kienholz pleaded guilty Friday to felony fourth-degree assault of a peace officer, according to Goodhue County District Court.
Kienholz, 21, Zumbrota, amended his original plea from March in which he pleaded not guilty to a total of three fourth-degree assault charges, one fifth-degree assault charge and one charge of obstructing the legal process.
Both gross misdemeanor fourth-degree assault charges, the gross misdemeanor obstruction charge and the misdemeanor fifth-degree assault charge were dismissed.
Kienholz received a stay of adjudication on his guilty plea, in which he was sentenced to three years of supervised probation with the Minnesota Department of Corrections–Field Services, received credit for time served of six days in local confinement and a $100 fine.
Kienholz was charged in Goodhue County District Court following an incident in February during which he spit in a Zumbrota police officer’s mouth and head-butted him in the face.
