Wrestling: Goodhue takes two in Wabasha
Goodhue opened its Thursday triangular with six straight victories over Wabasha-Kellogg, including two pins, two forfeits and a technical fall on the way to a 44-28 win over the Falcons. The Wildcats then followed with a 51-24 thrashing of Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Kingsland to take a 2-0 trip home from Wabasha.
Against W-K, Mariano Bigalk started things off with a pin just 31 seconds into his match. Kaleb O’Reilly followed with an 8-2 decision before Joel Gadient won by forfeit. Matthew Lexvold also received a forfeit victory moments after Bailee O’Reilly pinned his opponent at 1:47.Mason Huemann closed Goodhue’s opening run with a 15-0 defeat of his opponent to give the Wildcats a 32-0 lead.
Riley Huemann (fall, 2:28) and Charles Dahling (fall, 1:12) got the final two wins for Goodhue.
Goodhue got a similar start against GMLOK, surging to a 30-0 lead behind Bigalk (forfeit), Kaleb O’Reilly (forfeit), Joel Gadient (fall, 2:32), Bailey O’Reilly (fall, 0:32) and Matthew Lexvold (forfeit).
Riley Huemann got a forfeit victory while Matthew Deneen held on to an 8-6 decision. Charles Dahling followed with another forfeit as Josh Dahling closed the evening with a pin at 2:50.
The Wildcats will compete in another triangular Friday when Goodhue visits Hayfield, along with United South Central.
