Many within the community are familiar with the Business and Professional Women's Colloquium. It's one of the largest women's events in the area and this year the colloquium is celebrating 27 years ... 27 years of acknowledging the contributions of women to local businesses and our economy.
As you might imagine, since the first colloquium in 1986 the business landscape has changed dramatically and with it the event has grown to encompass a wider scope of professional women. The "secretaries" and "administrative professionals" of the past are playing an event greater role. Today's business women are owners, supervisors, purchasers, planners, project managers, customer service advocates and public relations experts. Their job titles often include words like associate, specialist, representative, supervisor, CEO and more/ Thus the community will notice a slightly different name for our annual award.
This year's event will take place Wednesday April 24 at Treasure Island. Each year the event receives rave reviews and we expect our 27th will be no exception. As in the past, we have our women's expo, a gourmet luncheon, decadent desserts, style show, an inspiring and hilarious keynote speaker, and prizes, prizes and more prizes and gift bags.
But as anyone familiar with the event knows the highlight is the presentation of the Business & Professional Woman of the Year Award (formerly Administrative Professional of the Year). We encourage all area employers to consider recognizing their female superstars by nominating them for this prestigious award and by sending them to the Business and Professional Women's Colloquium. You'll want to act fast. Deadlines for nominations are Friday April 5. Nominating is easy: Contact Christy at 651-388-6331 or email@example.com.
We also extend an invitation to all area women who would like to attend and spend a fun, inspiring and motivational day networking with your peers. You can register online at www.southeastmn.edu/colloquium. Event details, updates, vendor list, prizes and more can be found on Facebook at www.fb.com/rwcolloquium.
We extend a special thank you to the women and businesses of the area for your support of the Colloquium over the last 27 years! We look forward to seeing you April 24.
