Volleyball: Goodhue wins Hayfield tournament
The Goodhue volleyball team went into Hayfield Saturday morning, dropped just two sets in four matches, and went home with a tournament title.
In the first match against Albert Lea, a three-set, 25-20, 19-25, 17-15 victory, the Wildcats Mikayla Tipcke dished out 26 set assists, finding Kali Ryan for seven kills, and Mikayla Miller for eight kills.
Against Leroy-Ostrander, a 25-8, 25-18 win, It was Ryan with five kills, Laurie Pearson with five kills and Tipcke with 19 set assists. Emilee Roschen had five aces in the match as well.
Against Southland, it was Miller again with the big match, slamming eight kills and three aces. The Wildcats won 25-20, 25-15.
In the final against Hayfield, Miller stepped up for the occasion, posting 15 kills. Tipcke also came to play against the Vikings, giving out 28 set assists and recording three aces in the 23-25, 25-20, 15-7 victory, which came two days after Hayfield beat Goodhue in straight sets.
