Cannon Falls could not keep up with Class 2A’s second best team on Thursday, dropping straight sets to Stewartville 25-14, 25-11, 25-11 in Hiawatha Valley League play.

“Their biggest strength,” said Bombers’ head coach Melissa Huseth, “is they served us right out of the building.”

With passing proving to be problematic, Cannon Falls top hitters were Hailey Huseth and Madasyn Hofstedt, who finished with five kills apiece. Huseth also finished with five set assists and Hofstedt added two blocks. Libero Becca Vandenheuvel had 22 digs and Lydia Franken finished the night with 11 set assists and two ace serves.

The Bombers (12-8, 6-2 HVL) host Triton on Tuesday before traveling to Lake City on Thursday.
