HAGER CITY - A 15-year-old girl was struck by a car and injured Monday evening as she walked along the paved road behind the Chick-Inn near the Hwy. 63-35 intersection in the town of Trenton.

Jazmine Hanson was walking westbound in the eastbound lane on 170th Ave., when she was struck by a 1997 Buick driven by Rodney Furlong, 43, Bay City, at 7:57 p.m., according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff's deputy Robin Kivel said Furlong didn't see her due to the time of the night and what Hanson was wearing (all black clothing). Neither alcohol nor speed were a factor. Kivel added Hanson was out for a walk and was on her way home when the accident happened.

Hanson was transported from the scene by Red Wing Ambulance personnel to Fairview Red Wing Medical Center, then later transferred by medical helicopter to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., where she was listed in good condition with no broken bones.
