Uncork a local taste at state fair
The Minnesota State Fair offers all sorts of food and fun on a stick – but don’t forget about the wine.
Today, there are more than 40 wineries and 600 vineyards across the state producing internationally award-winning wines.
Minnesota Wine Country offers fairgoers the opportunity to learn about what grapes grown in the state can create, while being able to try 12 of the best-selling and award-winning red, white, fruity and dessert wines made by eight different wineries and vineyards.
In addition to the wine and food available for purchase, nearly 30 free educational presentations will take place featuring local experts in wine and food.
Held daily, the programs feature food sampling, giveaways, live music and wine and food pairings.
Don’t miss the grape stomp photo opportunity. Set against a vineyard backdrop, visitors can jump into a barrel and try their grape stomping skills.
Minnesota Wine Country is open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily at 1271 Underwood St. between Carnes Avenue and Judson Avenue at the State Fair across the street from the Agriculture/Horticulture Building. Information and times for all of this year’s speakers is available at www.mnwine.org.
