Umbrellas of Red Wing opens June 21-22
The Red Wing Arts Association has expanded its annual "Umbrellas of Red Wing" event to include three special events for children. Each of the events encourages youths to express their creative spirits.
"Umbrellas of Red Wing" happens Friday June 21 and Saturday June 22.
Educator/artists Peg Hansen and Jude Rooney will work with children who are 5 to 10 years old from 9 a.m. to noon and children ages 11 to 15 from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday June 21.
The workshops are offered at no charge. Both workshops will be held in the festival tent at Red Wing Depot Gallery. Each participant can use paints/markers to create an umbrella as their work of art. Free will donations appreciated.
At 7 p.m. Saturday June 22, Universal Music Center students of the Anderson Center at Tower View will perform at the Bandshell in Central Park.
The song before intermission will feature an umbrella parade of the children who painted umbrellas the day before and during the Red Wing school projects.
