Two killed, trooper injured in Cannon Falls crash
A Minnesota State Patrol trooper responding to a crash Friday afternoon collided with a vehicle in Cannon Falls, killing the driver and a passenger.
The trooper was traveling southbound on 65th Ave. around 2:30 p.m. after a report of a deer vs. motorcycle crash when he struck a Ford Taurus exiting a parking lot near County Road 24, according to the State Patrol.
The occupants of the Taurus, Norman L. Scott, 78, and Geneva M. Scott, 79, both of Cannon Falls, were killed. The trooper, Scott R. Reps, 48, of Rochester, was airlifted to Mayo Clinic hosptial in Rochester with “serious but non life-threatening injuries," an incident report states.
Another vehicle, a 2009 Jeep Commander traveling west on 65th Ave., also was involved in the crash but sustained only minor damage.
Cannon Falls police and the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office assisted on the scene.
