Two bullying prevention programs will be held April 11

Two programs will be held Thursday April 11 focusing on bullying prevention efforts. Nancy Riestenberg, the school climate specialist for the Minnesota Department of Education, will present both at Minnesota State College-Southeast Technical.

A daytime workshop geared to family and school professionals, "Prevention of School Bullying Recommendations: Building Community, Repairing Harm," will run 1 to 4 p.m. The session will review topics including the Governor's Taskforce for Prevention of School Bullying recommendations, brain research and bullying research. Pre-registration is required and there is a $10 fee.

An evening session will be 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. "Family Focus on Bullying Prevention: Like Your Child, Friend Your School, Download Your Culture," will focus on the family's role in bullying prevention. The session is free, but pre-registration is necessary.
