Tribe awarded disaster funding

The Prairie Island Indian Community was one of seven entities that will be eligible for federal aid in the wake of spring flooding.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management announced Tuesday that the tribe and six counties were added to the flooding-related major disaster declaration.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency provides 75 percent of the funding. Eligible work includes debris removal and repair or replacement of damaged public facilities.
