Travel not advised in wake of winter storm
Transportation officials are advising no unnecessary travel in southeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin due to icy patches, blowing snow and reduced visibility.
There are no Minnesota interstate or highway closures planned at this time, but officials caution motorists to expect brief lane and road closures when crashes occur.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises motorists to:
•Drive slowly on bridges, overpasses and tunnels.
•Use a safe speed regardless of the posted limit.
•Keep safe stopping distance from the vehicle in front.
•Keep both hands on the steering wheel and stay attentive.
