Township elections show little competition

Township elections will be held Tuesday March 11 across Goodhue County, with a majority of candidates running unopposed.

Only Wanamingo and Warsaw townships have more than one candidate vying for supervisor, but write-in votes have created upsets in past years.

Here’s a rundown of the ballots and when residents will be able to vote at their respective township halls:

Belle Creek

Chad Ryan is running for township supervisor. Steve McNamara is running for township clerk.

Polls will be open from 4 to 8 p.m.

Belvidere

Alan Breuer is running for supervisor. Patricia Stemmann is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 3 to 8 p.m.

Cannon Falls

Ray Otto is running for supervisor. Sue Safe is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 4 to 8 p.m.

Cherry Grove

Jill Palof is running for supervisor. There is no clerk candidate.

Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.

Featherstone

Carl Bang is running for supervisor. Gaye Larson is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.

Florence

Joe Ellingson is running for supervisor. Susan Eisenmenger is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 4 to 8 p.m.

Goodhue

George Raasch is running for supervisor. David Burfeind is running for clerk.

The annual township meeting begins 1 p.m. Polls open following the meeting and will remain open until 8 p.m.

Hay Creek

Susan Cushing is running for supervisor. Marilyn Schilling is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.

Leon

Regan Melhouse is running for supervisor. Sandra Hanson is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.

Minneola

William Budensiek is running for supervisor. Sarah Pettit is running for clerk.

Following an annual meeting at 2 p.m., polls will be open until 8 p.m.

Pine Island

Richard Miller is running for supervisor. David Arndt is running for clerk.

Following an annual meeting at 3 p.m., polls will be open until 8 p.m.

Roscoe

Brian Hoven is running for supervisor. Susan Ecker is running for clerk.

Following an annual meeting at 3 p.m., polls will be open until 8 p.m.

Stanton

Robert Benson is running for supervisor. Cheryle Peters is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 2 to 8 p.m.

Vasa

Mike Carlson is running for supervisor. James Hedeen is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.

Wacouta

Brent Jablonski is running for supervisor. Laura Lutjen is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 4 to 8 p.m.

Wanamingo

Rae Rusnak and John Hegseth are running for supervisor. Jessica Page is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 4 to 8 p.m.

Warsaw

Jason Fehling and Larry Madsen are running for supervisor. Jimmilee Miller is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 3 to 8 p.m.

Welch

Dan Bauer is running for supervisor. Ken Slingsby is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.

Zumbrota

Roger Ballstadt is running for supervisor. Laurie Hoerneman is running for clerk.

Polls will be open from 5 to 8 p.m.

All township clerk offices will be open 10 a.m. to noon Saturday March 8 for absentee voting.
