Three crashes, one fatal, reported Sunday
One killed in motorcycle crash
A West Concord, Minn., man was killed Sunday evening when his motorcycle struck a road sign, Goodhue County Sheriff's Office reported.
Raymond Bartz, 55, was westbound on County Road 11 in Cherry Grove Township when his cycle went off a sharp curve and struck a sign at about 6:45 p.m. Bartz was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office will be performing an autopsy and the State Patrol will do a reconstruction of the accident. Alcohol doesn't appear to be a factor in the crash; Bartz was wearing a helmet.
Zumbrota Ambulance and Wanamingo First Responders assisted at the scene.
Two injured after ejected from vehicle
Two people were injured Sunday afternoon when they were ejected from their vehicle, Pierce County Sheriff's Department reported.
Dennis Schwede, 63, rural Spring Valley, Wis., was driving northbound on State Highway 128 at about 1 p.m. in Spring Lake Township when the vehicle crossed the southbound lane and entered the west ditch. The vehicle then struck a group of trees, went airborne and came to rest in a cornfield. Schwede and his passenger, Torence Schwede, 25, rural Spring Valley, were ejected.
Dennis Schwede was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Torence Schwede was transported by ambulance to Baldwin (Wis.) Area Hospital. Both suffered undetermined injuries.
Wisconsin State Patrol, St. Croix County Sheriff's Department, North Air Care Helicopter, Spring Valley and Elmwood Area Fire and Ambulance and River Falls Paramedics assisted at the scene.
The accident is still under investigation.
Two injured in Pierce County crash
Two men were injured Sunday afternoon when their vehicle hit a tree, Pierce County Sheriff's Department reported.
Brandon Walter, 20, Ellsworth, was driving a 2003 Cadillac in Trimbelle Township at about 3:50 p.m. when he failed to stop at the intersection of County Road K and 810th Street. The vehicle entered the ditch, struck a stump, went airborne and hit a tree.
Walter was transported by North Memorial Air Care to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. Passenger Andrew Szatkowski, 21, Red Wing, was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing. Both had undetermined injuries.
Ellsworth Police and Ellsworth Fire and Ambulance assisted at the scene.
