Thomas F. Hackett, 62
Thomas F. Hackett, 62, of Rochester, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Mayo Clinic St. Mary's Campus, on Friday, March 14, following complications from lung surgery.
Tom was born to James and Joan Hackett on Aug. 12, 1951, in Long Beach, Calif. He grew up in Chester, Pa., until 1964, when his family moved to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
He married Bonnie Boldt on Dec. 23, 1985. They resided in St. Thomas until September 1991, when they moved to Coral Springs, Fla. In April 2006, the couple moved to Rochester.
Tom enjoyed classic car shows, long rides in the country, and family gatherings. However, his favorite day was spending a Saturday with Bonnie. The day would include an early breakfast at the Brother's Restaurant, followed by picking up a couple of jelly donuts and a large mug of coffee. He was then ready to embark on a full morning of finding treasures at multiple garage sales - the more the better! The afternoon was spent in his awesome garage listening to tunes or watching Twins baseball or Vikings football on TV.
Tom is survived by his wife Bonnie; beloved Beagle, Hemi; sister, Anastasia Fontenot; brothers-in-law, James Boldt, Doug Ovens, and Garwin Stensrud; and sisters-in-law Jan Ovens, and Sue Stensrud; along with several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life is being planned for May.
