Steven L. Armstrong, 62, of Prescott

Steven L. Armstrong, 62, of Prescott, died Saturday at his home. Steve was born Oct. 10, 1946, in Duluth, Minn., and was raised in Superior, Wis., by his parents, Byron and Cecelia (Larson) Armstrong. He was a graduate of Superior Central High School and Eau Claire Technical Institute, receiving an associate degree in computer science. Steve married Julie Cockson in October of 1967 and later married Judy Lamble on June 27, 1987, in Coon Rapids, Minn.

Steve was a longtime employee of Northwest Airlines, where he was a senior business analyst. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, loved playing golf, and traveling throughout the world. Steve was recently inducted into the Superior Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1959 Wisconsin State Little League Championship baseball team. Most importantly, he was devoted to his friends and family, and especially his four grandsons.

Steve is survived by his adoring wife, Judy; daughter, Cathy (John) Williams; mother, Cecelia Elmore; Judy's daughters Molly (Tom) Morgan and Liz (Jeff) Klotz; grandsons Alec, Tanner, Aaron and Linden; brothers Conrad (Deanna); Michael (Joan); Richard (Laurie) and Randy (Darlene). Steve was preceded in death by his infant son; father, Byron; sister Sondra; stepfather, Ward Elmore; and Judy's sons Danny and Andy.

A celebration of Steve's life will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at Joy Lutheran Church, Prescott. Burial of his cremated remains will be in the Pine Glen Cemetery, Prescott, at a later time. Friends and family are invited to gather for an hour prior to the service at the church Thursday. Following the service all are invited to gather at Steve and Judy's home, in the great outdoors, for lunch and to continue the celebration of his life.
