Stephen T. Ginn, 84, of Wabasha
Stephen T. Ginn, 84, of Wabasha, formerly of Red Wing, died Monday evening, May 18, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born Jan. 23, 1925, in Guckeen, Minn., the son of William and Josephine (Guckeen) Ginn. In his early teens the family moved to nearby Blue Earth, Minn.
He served 4 1/2 years in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. After the service he worked for Standard Oil for 14 years in Whiting, Ind. He then worked as a maintenance engineer for St. Margaret's Hospital in Kansas City, Kan. He retired in 1990. He married Henrietta Lech April 3, 1945, in Paola, Kan. The couple moved to Red Wing in 1992 and lived there until moving to Wabasha in November 2005, residing at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center Assisted Living Apartments.
Steve was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Red Wing. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW Posts.
He is survived by his wife, Henrietta Ginn of Wabasha; daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and John Eslick, Mound City, Kan., Maureen Miller, Kansas City, Kan; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Ginn, Mankato, Minn.; sister, Irene Maday, Winona, Minn.; nieces and nephews. One son, Leon, and seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha with the Rev. Glenn Frerichs officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Red Wing. The Wabasha American Legion Post 50 and the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post 4086 will perform military rites. Friends may call at the church one hour before the service Saturday.
