Spotlight: The Pines play River Falls
The Pines close out this summer's Chill on the Hill free Tuesday concert series presented by the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. See them perform 7 p.m. Tuesday Aug. 13 at the outdoor Melvin Wall Amphitheatre on campus.
The concert brings their Indie folk Americana music to life.
Founded by Iowa natives David Huckfelt and Benson Ramsey, Indie-roots band The Pines surprisingly actually met in Ariz., where they both lived in a Mexican barrio and first began playing together.
Forming the Pines, they returned to the Midwest, moving to Minneapolis.
Benson, the son of Greg Brown's producer and sideman Bo Ramsey, was reared on folk and blues music and those influences continue to be heard.
Huckfelt shares Benson's deep love for traditional music. Both are writers, singers and instrumentalists.
Grilled food, beverages, ice cream and Rush River beer are available for purchase. Dogs are allowed, must remain on leash.
