Spotlight: Check out the Red Wing Farmers Market
The Red Wing Farmers Market offers fresh produce, homegrown vegetables and colorful flowers along with live entertainment and special features each Saturday outside of the Red Wing Depot.
A new feature planned for the Saturday July 21 market includes a one-of-a-kind "Healthy Living Cook-Off" with the Burnside Pluckies 4-H Club. The event promotes healthful cooking and eating habits through an Omelet Cook-off. The groups will be purchasing ingredients from the market and teams will have their creations judged.
Local "celebrities" will be offering assistance to each team, including Sen. John Howe, Sheriff Scott McNurlin and Assistant County Attorney Erin Kuester. The University of Minnesota Extension will supply equipment.
Master Gardener Paul Schaefer will be on hand to answer gardening questions.
Music, starting around 10 a.m., will be provided by singer/songwriter Thea Ennen, winner of the Minnesota Folk Recording of the Year.
The weekly market is available in front of City Hall, Sunday through Friday.
