Speaker will address organic foods
An internationally recognized speaker on food and farm policy will discuss organic foods and how they may help prevent obesity, cancer and diabetes at Riverbend Market, 417 Main St., 7 p.m. Jan. 17.
Mark Kestel, of the Cornucopia Institute, will also talk about how consuming organic foods can prevent exposure to toxic chemical residues, antibiotics and hormones, how to choose the most nutritious food and how to afford organic foods on a budget.
Prior to Kestel's presentation, members of the co-op will conduct a brief annual business meeting from 6 to 6:45pm. Following the speaker, the DitchLillies, Kari Larson and Lisa Schultz, perform.
