Softball: Wildcats shut out by Lourdes
Goodhue outhit Rochester Lourdes 6-5 in Tuesday's season-opener, but the runs were hard to come by for the Wildcats in a 3-0 loss.
"We had a few threats, but we didn't get the big hit at the right time," said Goodhue head coach Chris Irvin. "If we could have gotten a run across, that would have felt good. But overall, I felt good about the game."
Kate Lexvold and Brittney Ryan each had two hits to lead the Wildcats' offense. Laurie Pearson pitched all six innings, racking up four strikeouts and five walks without giving up an earned run.
Rochester Lourdes scored its first run on a throwing error on a stolen base attempt. Then, the Eagles plated a run apiece in the third and sixth innings off of wild pitches.
The Wildcats' next game is scheduled for Friday at home against Pine Island.
