Abbey Loken provided the power for third-seeded Houston Monday against sixth-seeded Goodhue in Peterson.
Loken struck out 13 in the pitcher's circle and allowed just three hits while also clubbing a three-run home run in the fifth inning as Houston picked up a 5-0 victory in the first round of the Section 1A East sub-section playoffs.
"That was kind of the dagger for us," Wildcats' head coach Chris Irvin said of Loken's home run.
Laurie Pearson pitched a complete game for Goodhue (8-11) and allowed three earned runs on eight hits and two walks. She had five strikeouts.
"She kept us in the game for a long time," Irvin said. "She gave us a great chance to win."
Pearson was also 1-for-3 with a double. Lexie Kennedy went 1-for-2 and Kate Lexvold finished 1-for-2 in the loss.
Vanessa Lee went 3-for-4 with two triples and an RBI for Houston.
