Softball: Patience proves potent for Goodhue in win
Goodhue recovered from a pair of blowout losses Monday night to defeat Hayfield 12-8 Tuesday in Zumbrota.
The Vikings played Zumbrota-Mazeppa before their game against the Wildcats.
Goodhue (8-9, 4-7 HVL) coaxed 12 walks from Hayfield's pitching staff to go along with nine hits in the victory.
"After last night's games we really talked about being patient at the plate," Goodhue head coach Chris Irvin said. "Being more disciplined and waiting for our pitches. Most of the girls did a good job of that."
Ashlyn Stecklein was 1-for-1 with four walks as the Wildcats' leadoff hitter. Paige Gadient finished 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and four RBI while Bailey Kreisler went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Laurie Pearson picked up the win with a complete game in the pitcher's circle.
Goodhue travels to Cannon Falls Thursday and hosts Winona Cotter Friday.
