Softball: Goodhue dominates in doubleheader

Goodhue scored a combined 45 runs on the way to a road sweep of Lake City on Thursday. The Wildcats won 24-2 in Game 1, followed by a 21-8 victory in the nightcap.

In Game 1, Caitlin Roschen went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs scored, while teammate Sydney McNamara added two hits – a double and a triple – three runs and an RBI for Goodhue. In the circle, Laurie Pearson got the win after striking out six and allowing seven hits in four innings. For Lake City, Carley Cronin went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In Game 2, McNamara continued her roll for the Wildcats, going 4-for-4 with a triple and a double to go along with four runs and an RBI. Freshman Alissa Bien was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, and Lexie Kennedy went 2-for-2 with four runs and three RBI. Cronin was 2-for-3 with a run for the Tigers, with teammate Lindy Holmstadt finishing 1-for-1 with two RBI.

Goodhue (2-1) hosts Pine Island on Friday while Lake City (0-3) stays at home Monday against Byron.
