Second-seeded Zumbrota-Mazeppa overpowered seventh-seeded Rochester Lourdes to advance past the first round of the Section 1AA-West tournament Tuesday in Zumbrota.

Already up 1-0 after the first inning, Morgan Olson (3-for-4, two runs, two RBI) helped blow the game open for the Cougars with a two-run home run in the third inning. Two innings later, Tayler Mort (3-for-4, three RBI, two runs) connected with a three-run homer, followed up by a solo home run by the next batter, Carley Henning (2-for-3).

With the victory, Z-M will play host to third-seeded Stewartville in the second round on Wednesday.
