Softball: Byron overpowers Goodhue

Email News Alerts

Tuesday’s Byron/Goodhue game looked more like a home run derby than a softball game, with the visiting Bears taking the win, 21-7.

Leading the offensive onslaught was Byron’s Vanessa Anderson, who hits two home runs – a solo in the sixth and a three-run shot in the seventh – in a game where she went 3-for-3 with six runs and five RBI. Anderson reached base on all six of her at-bats.

Emma Nelson went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs, and Takota Tierney was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs and two RBI.

For Goodhue, Lexie Kennedy was 3-for-4 with two home runs – a two-run homer in the first and a solo shot in the third – along with three RBI and a pair of runs. Bailey Kreisler started the Wildcats’ scoring with a leadoff solo home run, finishing 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored.

Goodhue ends the regular season at 4-14.
