See newly installed metal sculptures in Wabasha
All are welcome to attend an River Junction Arts Council gallery reception for sculpture artist, Andy Arend, 5-7 p.m., Friday July 5.
You can visit with Arend while enjoying wine and refreshments.
Born and raised in Rochester, he received a BFA in visual arts from North Dakota State University.
Arend's sculptures have been displayed at the Plaines Art Museum in Fargo. A permanent installation of "Industrious Man" currently stands in downtown Fargo.
He has been welding and visiting salvage yards since high school. An interest in auto mechanics and metal fabrication melded, resulting in an interest in metal sculpture.
Arend's metal sculptures vary from life-size to wall hangings to tabletop selections. They will be on display from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays in July at the Down by the River Gallery.
The gallery is accessed by walking through the Chocolate Escape Shoppe at 152 Main Street, Wabasha, or by entering the outside gallery door, diagonally across the alley from the National Eagle Center.
