Adventures in Learning Preschool
"It's a New Year, Yes it is" song helped introduce the concept of 12 months make a year and our new year. The students counted backwards from 10 before throwing confetti to celebrate the New Year. "Q" is for quilts and quarters. The afternoon class went on a field trip to go bowling.

Thursday and Friday were a “phasing-in” week for new students. The three children were orientated to the classroom without the distraction of the regular class. They learned how to use the toilet, pour water when thirsty, roll working mats, carry pitchers, carry trays, choose what to do, and have snack when hungry. These simple concepts, when taught with intent, give children a firm grasp of how to navigate the Children's House and be independent in basic, everyday tasks.
Through games, they learned where the following are: the reading corner, bathroom, slipper pockets, snack table, snack hutch, water jug, easel, phasing-in shelf and the blue circle time rug.
These two days give new children a sense of belonging and ownership.
The Red Wing Masonic Lodge is partnering with Burnside School to provide the “Bikes for Books” program. Students who read approved books can submit an entry for a drawing to win a new bike and helmet. Information will be in the January school newsletter.
