Robert B. "Bob Hanson, 82, of Ellsworth
Robert B. "Bob Hanson, 82, of Ellsworth, passed away Monday, June 29, 2009, at his residence. Bob was born in Trenton Township on Oct. 15, 1926, the son of Nels and Anna (Anderson) Hanson.
In 1942 he was drafted into the Army and was honorably discharged in 1944. Bob was united in marriage to Betty Rosenberg on May 17, 1949, in Red Wing. Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a good father and grandfather. He loved to visit with friends and spend time with his family.
Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty; two sons: Robert (Lori) Hanson of Ellsworth and Terry (Pat) Hanson of Red Wing; seven grandchildren: Debbie (Dennis) Cook, Lisa Hanson, Mary (Mark) Able, Bruce Hanson, Stephanie (Todd) Jerabek, Charles Hanson, and Fred Hanson; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard Hanson of Ellsworth; two sisters: Myrtle Christianson of Ellsworth and Joyce Kruse of Red Wing; and further survived by numerous extended family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters Russell, Clifford, Darwin, Blanche, Ruby, Lillian, Donald, and Howard.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Covenant Church with the Rev. Greg Fondell officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with Bruce, Charlie, and Fred Hanson, and Dennis Cook, Mark Abel, and Dane Tukua as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be McKenzie, Nicholas, Josh, and Jack. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and again Thursday one hour prior to the funeral service all at church. Memorials are preferred.
