RESOLUTION APPROVING SUMMARY LANGUAGE FOR
PUBLICATION OF A ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT

WHEREAS, on July 29, 2014 the Town Board of Featherstone Township (“Town”) adopted “An Ordinance Amending the Featherstone Township Building and Zoning Ordinance Regarding Mining”, and;

WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2014-3 amends the Town’s zoning ordinance to prohibit establishment and expansion of mining operations;

WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, section 365.125 allows the publication of a summary of an ordinance instead of publishing the entire ordinance; and

WHEREAS, the Town Board determines that publishing the full text of the Ordinances is not feasible and that publication of a summary is sufficient to clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the Ordinance.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board hereby determines to publish the following summary language, which is hereby approved, in lieu of publishing the full text of the Ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE FEATHERSTONE TOWNSHIP
BUILDING AND ZONING ORDINANCE REGARDING MINING

The Town Board of Featherstone Township adopted the above referenced ordinance by Resolution 2014-3 to amend the Featherstone Township Building and Zoning Ordinance by deleting the existing Chapter XII and replacing it with a new Chapter regulating mining within the Town. The ordinance creates new definitions related to mining, makes findings regarding mining operations, prohibits the establishment of new mining operations and the expansion of existing mining operations, establishes certain exemptions from the prohibition, and provides for the ongoing operation of existing mining operations. A copy of the ordinance is available at the Red Wing Public Library, the Goodhue County Law Library, and can be obtained by contacting the Town.
