Register now for State Fair contest
ST. PAUL -- Performers from across the Midwest will have an opportunity to compete at the 36th annual Minnesota State Fair Amateur Talent Contest.
A total of $7,445 in prize money will be awarded to the first- through third-place winners in three divisions. Entries are being accepted for all age groups. Age categories are: open division for any age, teen division for ages 13 to 18, and preteen division for ages 12 and under.
Auditions run July 28 through Aug. 3 at the Leinie Lodge Bandshell on the fairgrounds. The auditions will begin at 5:30 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. From auditions, semifinalists will be selected to perform during the Minnesota State Fair, which runs Aug. 21 through Sept. 1.
Last year The Limns, a pop/folk rock group from St. Paul, took the grand prize. They will perform during the finals this year, as well as at the International Bazaar Stage on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
