Red Wing woman charged after allegedly hitting husband with car
A Red Wing woman is facing a second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon charge after allegedly hitting her husband with a car. Chloe Anne Steele, 22, 617 Bluff St., is also facing two domestic assault charges.
According to a Goodhue County District Court complaint filed June 19, Steele and her husband were arguing at their residence. Steele then attempted to leave with her husband's vehicle. The man attempted to stop her from driving away by standing in front of the car. Steel drove forward, striking the man's right leg with the vehicle's bumper. Two young children were in the vehicle with Steele.
A neighbor saw the incident and called police, the complaint states. The responding officer said that the man was limping and his ankle appeared extremely swollen.
When police later questioned Steele, she denied hitting her husband and stated that the pair had just been arguing in the driveway.
Steele's next court appearance is Sept. 13.
