Red Wing man faces first-degree sex charges
A Red Wing man has been charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to a criminal complaint filed in Goodhue County District Court Feb. 20.
Jesus Urzua-Contla, 26, allegedly had sexual contact with a girl under 13 years old, who was known to him, multiple times between July 2011 and December 2013.
According to the complaint, the victim’s mother contacted police after a conversation about pornography on her daughter’s tablet computer prompted her daughter to tell her about Urzua-Contla.
The victim told police that Urzua-Contla touched her on a few different occasions and described two instances when he had sexual intercourse with her, according to the complaint.
“I started pushing him away because I didn’t want him to do that,” the victim told police. “It still happened.”
When questioned by police, Urzua-Contla denied having inappropriate contact with the juvenile female, according to the complaint.
“We didn’t have intercourse,” he said in the complaint. “OK, we probably kissed in a way I shouldn’t have.” Urzua-Contla later admitted to touching the victim, but not in the ways she described.
Each charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of 30 years imprisonment and a $40,000 fine and each charge of second-degree criminal sexual conduct carries a maximum sentence of 25 years imprisonment and a $35,000 fine.
Urzua-Contla’s next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 28 at 8:30 a.m.
