Red Wing man charged with felony domestic assault
After allegedly strangling one person and assaulting another, a Red Wing man has been charged with three felony counts of domestic assault.
Matt Douglas Weisz, 39, was taken into custody after Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office and Red Wing police responded to a call shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday, according to a complaint filed in Goodhue County District Court Monday.
Officers observed redness on one victim’s neck and redness, scratching and bruising on another victim’s arm.
Each felony assault charge is punishable by up to five years jail time and a $10,000 fine and the felony domestic assault by strangulation charge is punishable by up to three years imprisonment and a $5,000 fine.
Weisz was previously convicted of misdemeanor domestic assault in May 2010, misdemeanor fifth-degree assault in December 2011 and gross misdemeanor domestic abuse in June 2013, all in Goodhue County.
Weisz is scheduled to make his first appearance in court May 16.
