Raymond J. Dahl, 91, of Lake City
Raymond J. Dahl, 91, of Lake City, Minn., passed away Monday, Aug. 24, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Wabasha, Minn.
Raymond was born Nov. 22, 1917, in Pilot Mound, Minn., to Peter and Emma (Johnson) Dahl. He attended school in Pilot Mound. On March 12, 1947, he married Laura Crowson in North Prairie, Minn. Raymond farmed in the Chatfield area. While living in Lake City, he worked at Golden Loaf for two years and as a machine operator for Federal Mogul in Lake City for 32 years. Ray also worked at the Jewell Nursery in Lake City for 16 years. Laura passed away Feb. 6, 1985. Raymond married Bernice Walters Nov. 10, 1990. They continued living in Lake City after they were married. Bernice passed away Feb. 26, 2001. Ray was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lake City. He enjoyed fishing, and traveling extensively throughout the United States with Bernice. Raymond touched many people's lives in a memorable way.
Raymond is survived by three daughters: Diane (Bob) Rehder of Red Wing, Minn., Cheryl (Dan Schmitz) Edelbach of Kellogg, Minn., Robin (Joseph) Mathews of Red Wing, Minn.; son, Rick (Deb Schumann) Dahl of Rochester, Minn.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four stepdaughters, Bonnie (Dan) Boots of Bloomington, Minn., Patricia (Dennis) Callinan of Eagan, Minn., Barbara (Rex) Novek of Red Wing, Diane (Greg) Keyport of Brooklyn Park, Minn; stepson, Loren (Donna) Walters of Byron, Minn.; seven step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wives Laura (Crowson) Dahl and Bernice (Walters) Dahl, three brothers and three sisters.
A memorial service will be Thursday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in Lake City with the Rev. Darren Paulson officiating. Burial will be in Pilot Mound Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson-Peterson Chapel Lake City. Friends may also call one hour before the service at the church.
